Poem: Sparkle to Shine, November 1996

November 1996

Sparkle to Shine

Looking for a glimmer of hope,
Just wanting to survive,
You need a solid focus,
Something to make you feel more alive.

A spark flickers within you,
Waiting for that moment to shine,
A hope, a chance, an aspiration,
An inspiration to make you feel fine.

Maybe you lack a true friend,
Or a sensual, tender lover,
Requiring they understand and not judge,
Maintaining a trust together.

The attention isn’t there,
Like it greatly once was.
Perhaps you want to be noticed,
Creating a buzz.

A first impression was awful,
You look to even the score.
A second chance to be yourself,
To charm, attract, and adore.

The best has yet to be done,
You failed to follow through.
Another opportunity is your desire,
To capture all that’s overdue.

It’s time to face the world,
With all this sparkle so divine,
To succeed and achieve,
And simply shine.
